Loved this episode…high energy..lots of info…so very interesting…food for thought.
You guys have successfully instilled “The Travel Bug” in soooo many people…I am definitely one of them!
I really was impressed with the “Frozen Food for your Villa” idea at The Pacific Sands.
Let’s hope someone(s) come thru with ways for you to reach Hawaii and Nunavut.

Hey A&L,
I enjoy the weekly updates. However, can’t help but notice that the smaller and lesser-known towns tend to get less love from you. (Re: Your opinion on staying in Libby, Montana.) North America contains more than just big cities you’d find on a globe. Many people in the states and Canada live in, and visit, smaller towns (and probably a lot of people who follow your travels do too). The lesser-known places don’t necessarily have less charm, or are less interesting, or are worse places to live. As you’re in a position to really get your followers to think about traveling, and while you’re on your own journey to explore what makes this continent great and think of other places in new ways, please keep in mind that every place has something to offer. Yes, even small places. Population doesn’t necessarily mean a thing, and don’t disregard a smaller town just because you haven’t heard of it before.
If you’re willing to explore what big cities have to offer, consider what the smaller places have, too.
Thanks so much for your comment. We really appreciate what you’re saying. In fact, we completely agree with you, small towns and lesser known destinations are actually more often than not our absolute favourite places to visit. This is something we discuss between ourselves all the time, and thought we were making clear on the site. We even find that amongst the larger cities, we often prefer the ones that aren’t typical tourist destinations like Kansas City or Tulsa or Columbus.
As for the small towns, it has been an absolute pleasure to be able to shed light on places like Fayetteville West Virginia, Cow Head Newfoundland, and Stonecliffe Ontario, to name a few of our favourites. Just this week, actually, we visited a place in Montana called Bozeman, which we absolutely fell in love with, and plan on making our favourite place of the week (spoiler alert).
I’m not sure what it was about this past weeks episode, or the past few episodes that have given you the impression that we favor larger cities, and actually I know off the top of my head that our last two favourites were Tofino and Ketchikan, which are both tiny (albeit tourist destinations). That said, we hear what you are saying. We only have a few minutes each episode to talk about the highlights of the week, but when the trip is over, we have big plans of spending some serious time pouring over all of our footage and sharing far more of our findings and experiences with anyone willing to listen.
Thanks for expressing your concerns, and I hope that after a closer look, you will see that we really are lovers of small towns, unlikely destinations and everywhere in between. It would break our hearts to think we are not giving off that impression, because its one of the most important messages we aim to deliver on a daily basis – that this continent is worth exploring, and its best when you find yourself off the beaten path.
You seem like a difficult letter … err person.. to satisfy. With only 6 months to cover such a large and diverse country such as the United States there are bound to be towns (small and large) that get left out. If Alex & Luke don’t go to a small town you can’t take offense to it. Most importantly, you have to remember what is at the nucleus of their adventure:
Their trip is driven by social media.
This means that they do not have nearly as much personal choice to consciously pursue all of the smalls gems of America and Canada. This is also what makes the whole concept of what they are doing so interesting to so many people. Sheer voting power of their follower’s gets them from point A to point B on any given day. Alex & Luke don’t have a “preference” for the big cities over the little places. No, they are driven there by voting power and it is as simple as that. The most votes for a destination translates into A&L going there.

Hey Luke, looks like a native art hat, very common around Vancouver Island. Did you pick that up in Nanaimo? Great report on your travels today.
